Almeida Girl & Descarga
Kirsty Almeida and her fabulous 9 piece Latin-Salsa jazz band.

On one of the hottest evenings in the summer of 2006, the Sefton Park Palm House was packed to capacity for the latest in our Jazz at the Palm House concerts.

The warm evening sunshine and a host of delightful gaily coloured summer plants and shrubs created a stunning backdrop. As a departure from our normal style of jazz concerts we decided to give our audience a rare treat with the vivacious performance by Kirsty Almeida and Descarga, her nine piece Latin American Salsa band.
The atmosphere was set with the usual Jazz at the Palm House cafe style seating arrangements with the bar doing brisk trade in snacks and cold drinks. The audience were happy just to sit during the first half and listen to Kirsty's fabulous repertoire of up- tempo songs and rhythms. But in spite of the heat, soon it was time to get up and dance and all but a handfull of the audience where up on their feet dancing during the second half, eagerly following Kirsty's dance steps demonstrated from the stage. There was a real holiday atmosphere which the audience savoured right through drinking-up time before departing after another memorable evening of top quality jazz and entertainment. The Sefton Park Palm House is now firmly established as one of Liverpool's favourite music venues and Liverpooljazz completes the relaxed atmosphere with cafe style seating against the backdrop of spot lit palms and plants.
